Family members have jointly owned holiday homes for many years. Between 'unconnected' parties, the idea has been around for 30 years. It's been growing in popularity in Europe over the last 10 years and holiday lodge parks are now seeing the benefits of adding it to their sales mix.

Yes, you will own your lodge through a company that we will set up solely for that purpose. You and your co-owners will be shareholders or members of the company.

Once you have agreed to purchase, a fully refundable deposit of £500 is payable. When the ownership group is complete, we take care of everything - co-ordinating the purchase and setting up the ownership structure, the usage rights and the property management arrangements. You will be kept fully updated throughout the process.

The feedback we have received is that most owners prefer privacy for themselves and their family. We do not facilitate contact between owners unless they all agree otherwise.

Our overriding aim is to give owners an experience which is as close to whole ownership as possible. We start with a rotating calendar where each week is allocated to a different owner. The calendar may then be adjusted during the purchase process to give complete flexibility:

• an owner may prefer to have more use of their lodge outside of the popular school holiday weeks;

• where an owner has a 'special week' such as a birthday or anniversary, they may be able to use that week every year, as long as it isn't a half term week or a week which includes a public/bank holiday.

Owners can also exchange weeks with each other at any time.

The park will arrange cleaning, repair and upkeep of your lodge and their fees will be included in the annual charge. Sojourn8 will arrange insurance of your lodge, collection of annual charges from each owner and payment of all outgoings.

Each owner will pay their share of the annual licence fee and the costs of maintaining and managing their lodge. No licence fees are payable for 2024 and 2025. Sojourn8 will charge a fee for arranging lodge insurance and collecting the annual charges from each owner and making payments on their behalf.

Yes, they can use your lodge at any time allocated to you.

Yes, you can rent out any weeks allocated to you which you don't expect to use yourself. You can advertise your lodge on any holiday letting sites and the park can also assist you.

Each owner will be responsible for the cost of any damage or breakages that occur during a week allocated to them, including where the lodge was occupied by their friends or family or by a holiday tenant.

Yes, you will be free to sell your share at any time, subject to offering it to your co-owners first. Your buyer will also need to enter into the same agreements as you did when you purchased your share - we will arrange that for you.
